Covenant Eyes (Victory) is built to help Christians quit pornography through accountability with a trusted ally and content blocking, while a prayer app blocker like Prayer Latch is built to stop everyday distraction by locking social apps until you pray. If pornography is the struggle, get accountability; if endless scrolling is, a prayer lock fits.
What does Covenant Eyes do?
According to its Google Play listings (October 2026), Victory by Covenant Eyes is "the best solution for Christians looking to overcome porn", built on 25 years of work with more than 1.7 million people. Free accounts get daily commitments, check-ins, mini courses and a community. Subscribers add the Victory Shield app, which can share screenshots of device activity with a chosen ally ("Screen Accountability") and block explicit sites, with options like SafeSearch.
What does Prayer Latch do?
Prayer Latch locks the apps you choose, usually social media, video and games, each morning at your wake-up time, until you pray and hold to say Amen. It's about giving God the first minutes of the day instead of the feed. It doesn't filter websites or share anything with another person.
Which one do I need?
| Your struggle | What helps most |
|---|---|
| Pornography or explicit content | Accountability with a real person and content filtering, such as Covenant Eyes |
| Starting every day on your phone | A morning prayer lock like Prayer Latch |
| Hours lost to social media and video | A prayer lock, plus extra lock times through the day |
| Wanting more time with God generally | A prayer lock and a regular quiet time |
Why does the kind of struggle matter?
Different struggles need different help. A prayer lock adds a pause and a moment with God before ordinary apps, which is enough for most everyday distraction. It can't see what you do after you unlock, and it isn't designed to. Pornography and other compulsive temptations usually need more: filtering, honesty with another person and often counseling. Be honest with yourself about which you're facing.
Can I use both?
Yes. They do different jobs and don't conflict. Many people need accountability for one area and a better daily rhythm in general.
A word about accountability
Scripture puts weight on confessing to one another: "Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed" (James 5:16, KJV). An app can make prayer the easy first step, but no app replaces a trusted friend, a pastor or a counselor. If you're fighting something serious, tell someone today.
Pray before you scroll
Prayer Latch locks your chosen apps each morning until you pray. Your first 7 days are free, no card needed.
