Here's a short morning prayer to pray before you check your phone: "Lord, before anything else gets my attention, I give this day to you. Thank you for this morning. Guide my eyes, my words and my time. Help me love the people in front of me. Amen."
A prayer for any morning
Lord, before anything else gets my attention, I give this day to you.
Thank you for this morning and for your mercy, new again today.
Guide my eyes, my words and my time.
Help me love the people in front of me.
When I reach for distraction, turn my heart back to you.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
A prayer for an anxious morning
Father, my mind is already racing. Before I read anything, I bring it all to you.
You know what today holds. Give me your peace, which passes all understanding,
and keep my heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Based on Philippians 4:6–7: "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus" (KJV).
A prayer for a busy morning
Lord, today is full. Let me not be so busy that I forget you.
Order my steps, show me what matters most, and give me strength for the rest. Amen.
A prayer of thanks
God, thank you for rest, for breath and for another day.
Your faithfulness is great. Let my first words today be praise. Amen.
How do I make it a habit?
Pray the same short prayer every morning for a week, before you unlock your phone. Once it's automatic, let it grow: add a psalm, pray for people by name, or sit quietly for a minute.
